Green Chile Por Vida (Literally)

Posted by on Aug 7, 2015 in Uncategorized

That gunnysack of green chile you’re about to get roasted just might make you live longer. At least, according to a study recently published in the British Medical Journal, it might.

The study examined over 487, 000 people from 2004 to 2008. Those who indulged in spicy food lived longer. It’s not so clear as to why, but hey, we’ll take any excuse to eat more chile. Plus, research has shown capsaicin, the stuff that makes our green chile hot, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

So go ahead, dip that chip back in the salsa. It’s for your greater good. And while you’re out and about, prolonging your life by sampling the city’s best chile laden dishes, make sure to check out some of these awesome events, too.

Well, it’s the blues for the kids. Probably not for the parents. Either way, WOWZUH, Four Wheels Auto Repair, and Journey City church are hosting the Back to School Bash at WOWZUH this Sunday, Aug. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. People of all ages are welcome to drop by and peruse 40 different vendors. Along with the free admission comes live music, free jumpers, free food, and free face painting.

And if you haven’t quite finished back-to-school shopping, you might get lucky. School supplies and backpacks will be given away.
