Favorite Things Friday—Er, On a Wednesday

Posted by on Jun 17, 2009 in Uncategorized

gelatoOkay, so we’re a little late posting these (or super-early, if you look at it that way), but if you’re anything like me, you could use a dose of Friday today. Here are some of the things the ATM staff has been talking about lately:

Seeduction Bread from Whole Foods—made fresh at the store’s in-house bakery.

Cool pictures from Michael Bublé’s show at Scalo a few months ago.

That Albuquerque is home to so many options for gelato (Berry Ocean, Ecco Gelato, Sweet Berry, to name but a delicious few).

The Julien-K show at the Sunshine Theater on June 18—seriously, we are so ready to rock out.

Our Chef Knockout: Round Two on June 28, when local chefs will battle it out in the kitchen—plus media personalities competing to make the best guacamole, the chance to eat some of the best food around, and much more. (Yes, it’s a little self-promotional. But to say we’ve “been talking” about the event is an understatement—we’re!) Watch this space for more…

I am so excited for Chef Knockout. I went last year and had a blast.

Also want to add to the list: homemade soups at La Montanita. So good.

Lexi, that gelato in the photo looks fabulous!

Is that, by chance, mint chocolate chip?

And, most importantly, where can I get some?

Hi Michael! Yummy, right? The cool thing is that these gelaterias change their flavors regularly. Surely mint chocolate chip is in an immediately-forthcoming rotation — I’ll find one for you, so watch this space.

Also: did you know there’s a new place selling frozen custard?

I didn’t know about the frozen custard. I know that frozen custard is popular in certain regions of the country — like the midwest — but I’m a west coast guy, Lexi, and I loooooove my ice cream…LOL

My cousin, who lives near Oakland, posted a Facebook message yesterday that she wanted ice cream. I suggested she go to Fenton’s, which is an Oakland institution — and she took me up on it!

Yes there is frozen custard in Albuquerque now! I just opened Chillz Frozen Custard June 5th. For those who haven’t tried it, you may never want ice cream again. Come see us today at 2720 Central SE across from UNM’s Johnson Field one block west of Girard.
