We love our pets. And we know you love your pets, too. Just to give you a heads up, today is “National Love Your Pet Day.” So toss your pup an extra treat, give your cat some extra catnip, or buy your goldfish a new little, fake pirate ship for his bowl.
While we’re on the subject of pets, pick up a copy of More Pet Friends: With Terrie Q and Travelin’ Jack, published by LPD Press and Rio Grande Books. Book proceeds benefit Kennel Kompadres, Sunflower Sanctuary Animal Rescue, and Save Lucky Paws.
And, of course, don’t forget to check out some of these awesome ABQ happenings.
And we hope you like jammin’ too, as Bob Marley would say. And no, Monster Jam isn’t monster-flavored goopy stuff you spread on toast. It’s actually a monster truck show, happening this weekend at Expo New Mexico.
Check out an impressive lineup of monster trucks, such as Scooby Doo, El Diablo, and McGruff.
Engines will fire up tonight and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. It’s an all-ages show and tickets are $5–$30.
Throw on your transparent red visor, put on your poker face, and head to Ned’s Bar & Grill on Saturday, Feb. 21 for a free Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament.
And don’t be intimidated, players of all levels are welcome. The cards will be shuffled and the tournament will be started at 1 p.m. It’s free to play, but you must be 21. And if you can’t make it this weekend, no worries, there will be other tournaments down the road, including one next Saturday, Feb. 28.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 480-320-0531 for more details.
Get your tackle box and fishing poles ready.
On Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tingley Beach will be hosting the Kids’ Fishing Fair. Children, ages 4–12, can peruse various lively and interactive discovery stations.
The best part: it’s free.
Looks like our calendars are full.
