August is upon us. Time for last minute summer plans and back to school (sorry to remind you).
Since we love food here at ATM, we wanted to make sure you knew: August is National Goat Cheese and National Panini Months. We hope your month plans will be food-centered, ours sure will—a goat cheese panini sounds really good right about now. Go out and celebrate food with foodie events, like the ones this weekend. There’s something for everyone at these events, whether you’re into skating, art, or food, or both!
Tomorrow is your last day to see the U.S. Roller Sports National Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center. This event lasts all day from 8 a.m.-11 p.m., so you can spend the day, or pop in for some action. Figure skating events will be featured tomorrow, but past events have included speed skating and hockey.
You can watch people from all ages, from kids to masters in their 70’s tackle this demanding sport. The event is free for military personnel with valid ID, and $10 for general entry. As an added perk for residents, bring your ID and you’ll get 10% off admission.
Did you know that the first recorded invention of roller skates dates back to 1760?
