I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend and is ready to take on the month of April! Here are some things to do in Albuquerque to kick off the new month:
Extreme poetry doesn’t get anymore impressive than at the 2013 ABQ Grand Slam Poetry Slam Championship. Revel in the works of the top ten poets in the city as they compete for a spot in the 2013 Poetry Slam Team and will represent the Duke City at the National Poetry Slam in August. Support our Albuquerque poets and be at Outpost Performance Space tonight at 7. Admission is $15 and $10 for students and Outpost members.
To all Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders, enjoy free weekend access tomorrow and Sunday to Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. This weekend kicks off the first of many for Museums on Us, which will continue every full first weekend of each month in 2013. All you have to do is present your Bank of America or Merrill Lynch card with photo I.D. to gain free general admission. Designed to provide a cultural benefit to Bank of America cardholders, Museums on Us was initiated to increase access to the arts across the United States.
Through April 26, donate your gently used and recycled clothing to the National Hispanic Cultural Center or to Diva D’Luxe. These donations are for Fashion for Field Trips where donated clothes items are transformed by fashion designers and shown on the runway. The outfits are then sold off the model and donations go to funds for bus transportation, artist fees and supplies so that the free School and Youth programs at the National Hispanic Cultural Center can grow.
The time has come baseball fans; the opening weekend of the Albuquerque Isotopes is upon us. Watch the Isotopes go head-to-head against the Iowa Cubs as you hang out with Orbit in this great Albuquerque weather. Go Isotopes!
What are YOU doing this weekend?
