Halfway through the month of October and I’m already thinking about time off for the holiday season. I know I can’t be the only one, right? Fortunately, in the meantime there are some exciting things for us to do this weekend that we can check out:
Bikes and babies should never mix, unless you support March of Dimes. This Saturday fly down to Rich Ford on Lomas and Wyoming for the 2012 March of Dimes Bikers for Babies for more than just your usual slinky parade ride. Registration starts at 8:30 and the day ends with live entertainment and a party at the Thunderbird Harley parking lot. An experience that involves more than just a beautiful ride, Bikers for Babies is a great way to help New Mexico’s babies to improve their health by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
This Saturday, don’t take it personally if someone tells you to put a cork in it and head down to the South Valley. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., CorkFest will commence at Corky’s Frausto’s South Valley Hacienda for its annual grass-roots arts and music festival. As the official charity, New Mexico Dogs Deserve Better will be the recipient of the proceeds from the silent auction. Free to the artists and the public, it will surely be the place to kick back, listen to music, eat and trade and sell art.
Get a taste of this; the second annual Taste of New Mexico is on Saturday and Sunday for its “Back for Seconds” event. The Civic Plaza will be hounded with over two dozen restauranteurs, breweries and wineries that will offer some of the best grub in the state. And don’t worry, the red and green chile will not disappoint.
What are you doing this weekend?
