Whether you want to run to him or run from him—he’s out there with his bow and arrows. You know who we’re talking about: Cupid. Valentine’s Day is just a week away! But until you’re neck-deep in chocolates and roses, check out these events going on in Albuquerque this weekend.

Fix That Frown With a Dose of Clown

The Ballut Abyad Shrine Circus runs through the weekend at Tingley Coliseum with one more show happening tonight at 7:30 p.m, three shows tomorrow, Feb. 8, and three shows Sunday, Feb. 9.

The show began 62 years ago and has been going strong ever since. Stop by for acrobatic acts and electrifying entertainment fit for the entire family. Tickets are $8 to $28.

Lovin’ To Run and Runnin’ To Love

Tomorrow is the 2014 Cupid’s Chase 5K, put on by Community Options Inc., a national nonprofit aiming to provide employment and residential services for people with a disability. Albuquerque is one of 24 nationwide locations hosting a Cupid’s Chase 5K.

The 5K is at Balloon Fiesta Park and will begin at 10 a.m. Registration starts at 8 a.m. The 5K is $50 the day of the race . Lace up your running shoes and get ready to help the community and your own health.

Don’t forget to zoom down to the South Broadway Cultural Center on Sunday. The New Mexico Italian Film & Culture Festival is presenting “The Sunday Festa: Tango Nights in Venice.”

Come watch Donatella Davanzo’s much-praised photography exhibit, “Tango Dancing in Venice,” hit the big-screen for the first time. The festival’s showcase film, Io Sono Li (Shun Li and the Poet), will follow. The film is set and filmed in the gorgeous Chioggia, which is sometimes called “Little Venice.”

The festival will be topped off with a tango demonstration by Double Time Dance Studio.

Tickets, which include appetizers, wine, and the films, are $45.The event starts at 1 p.m. and runs through 5 p.m.

Now that’s what we call a diverse weekend. Then again, that’s what we love about Albuquerque. Better get out there!
