By the age of sixteen, Joseph Zeval was exhibiting professionally in galleries around his childhood home in Sacramento, California. When he was just out of high school, several galleries drafted him to churn out seascapes using partial transparent oil glazing, which uses opaque layers. Today he’s an Albuquerquean, and Zeval pairs Old-World inspiration with transparent oil glazing—unique, time-intensive creations.
